About Dr. Susan Hoisington
Dr. Susan Hoisington is a retired educator, lifelong advocate for strong public schools, and proud Northland resident running for State Representative in House District 17.
Susan’s journey is rooted in perseverance and service. As a single mom raising two daughters, she returned to college to earn her degree and begin a career teaching math. That experience shaped her deep understanding of the challenges working families face and strengthened her commitment to opportunity, fairness, and community.
Over nearly three decades as a classroom teacher, instructional leader, and district administrator, Susan worked directly with students, families, and educators to turn research into results and ensure every child had access to high-quality education.
Today, Susan is also a grandmother and community member who believes that doing things is more important than going along just to get along. She’s running to bring practical, people-first solutions to our communities and to fight for policies in Jefferson City that strengthen schools, support workers, protect personal freedoms, and build thriving communities across Clay County.
